Vintage Upper Chesapeake Bluebill Duck Decoy, Bob McGaw

Sadly, this bluebill decoy by upper Chesapeake maker Bob McGaw had its paint taken down at both ends, leaving the middle still with its last coat.  It's too bad because, as can be seen from the photo of its back, the painter was certainly an expert.  I blame this on the insane stress of having to be in "ORIGINAL PAINT" (Ta Da-a-a).   What's left at either end is certainly closer to its original paint but I'll bet it was more attractive with the old over paint that it came with.  I got this decoy at a local antique center in the mid 1980s, and the dealer admitted that it was he who did the deed.  It's still a great example of Bob McGaw's style in form, 12 3/4" long with wear from age and use.  Ballast weight has been removed.
